Dating back to the early 1700’s the Highwayman Hotel at Kidlington near Oxford, has been a coaching inn, and public house for 300 years.

 

Located to the north of Kidlington on the A4260 and close to Oxford Airport, this friendly family run guest house is ideally situated for those with business commitments but better still if you’re visiting Oxford for pleasure. More about Kidlington and the surrounding areas

Kidlington is often referred to as the largest village in England and is home to London Oxford Airport.   Kidlington is within the beautiful North Oxfordshire countryside and is also very close to many pretty Cotswolds towns and villages. 

Within the North Oxfordshire area is Banbury, famous for the Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross nursery rhyme and Woodstock, home of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and a world heritage site.  Bicester Designer Outlet Shopping Centre is only 8 miles if you fancy seeking out some bargains.  

Attractions within the city of Oxford

Oxford is of course, world famous for its prestigious universities which are housed in beautiful buildings throughout the city, many of them that you can visit.  Historical landmarks include Carfax Tower, Radcliffe Camera, Clarendon Building and the Saxon Tower of St Michael at the North Gate.  If you are a lover of books Oxford is home to the highly respected Oxford University Press and Blackwell’s bookstore.

As you would expect from a major English city there is plenty of Arts and Culture to be accessed in the form of the Ashmolean Museum, Modern Art Oxford, Oxford University Museum of Natural History, Science Oxford Live and the Museum of the History of Science.  See plays and shows at The Oxford Playhouse, Burton Taylor Theatre, New Theatre and the Pegasus Theatre.  Sporting activities within Oxford including punting and ice-skating.  Outdoor spaces include University Park, Florence Park and Cutteslowe Park.
